- AP Fastigheter purchases Vasakronan from the Swedish state.
- Environmental issues are identified as one of the most important strategic issues in the new company.
- We environmentally certify the company according to ISO 14001.
2009
- The property at Vasagatan 7 in Stockholm becomes Sweden’s first LEED-certified building.
- Together with 12 other companies, we found the Sweden Green Building Council.
2010
- Vasakronan further refines the portfolio and sells the majority of its residential properties.
- We launch and sign the first green lease in Sweden.
2011
- The Riga property in Stockholm wins an EU prize for its low energy consumption.
2012
- As one of the first companies in the industry, we appoint a Head of Sustainability.
- Green leases become the industry standard.
2013
- Vasakronan is named the industry’s most attractive employer according to the Branschbarometern survey.
- We become the only green star in Sweden according to the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark, a global sustainability survey for property companies.
- We issue the world’s first green corporate bond.
2014
- Vasakronan becomes the first in Europe to certify existing properties according to LEED Volume.
- We are once again named the industry’s most attractive employer according to Branschbarometern.
2015
- The company’s property value exceeds SEK 100 billion.
- We receive the Sweden Green Building Award for conducting operations sustainably.
- Vasakronan opens up Hötorgsterrassen in Stockholm, a terrace that had been closed for 40 years.
2016
- The premiere of Cykel & Service on Mäster Samuelsgatan 56 in Stockholm.
- We are praised for our ground-breaking work with Green bonds and receive the Green Bond Award.
2017
- The “Älskade stad” initiative kicks off and wins the Swedish Confederation of Transport Enterprises’ Sustainability Award.
- Vasakronan is one of the founders of “Håll Nollan”, a collaboration for zero accidents in the construction industry.
- Vasakronan makes its first green bank loan with the EIB, the European Investment Bank.
- We launch a new, sharper framework for green bonds that also includes existing properties.
2018
- We issue the world’s first green commercial paper.
- We receive a rating from Moody’s – A3 stable outlook.
- Vasakronan ranks as the most sustainable property company in Europe and ninth in the world, according to the annual Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).
- RealEstateCore is honored as the company of the year by the Swedish Energy Efficiency Companies.

2019
- Co-founder of the Center for AMP for increased safety in Swedish cities.
- In Uppsala, construction starts on Magasin X, Sweden’s largest office building with a frame made entirely of wood, and we are building a solar park in the same city.
- Johanna Skogestig takes office as CEO and Anna Denell receives the award for Best Sustainability Manager of the Year 2019.
2020
- The solar park in Uppsala is put into operation. The facility comprises 11,000 solar panels spread over an area of seven hectares, has a total output of 4.4 MW and a delivery equivalent to approximately 4 GWh/year.
- The preservation of the concrete frame makes Sergelhusen in Stockholm the winner of the Environmental Award of the Year at the “Sveriges betonggala” (Swedish Concrete Gala). The property is also honored by the Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC), being awarded the prize in the category LEED Building/Project of the Year.
2021
- Vasakronan in the world top for both existing properties and project development according to GRESB.
- Sergelhusen reaches LEED Platinum with a world-class score. Only two other properties in the world have higher scores.
- Hötorgshus 3 and 4 in Stockholm receive an award from SGBC for existing LEED building of the year.
- 92% of the property portfolio is environmentally certified.
- We are making Europe’s first digital green NSV (Namensschuldverschreibung).
- Since 2008, we have distributed SEK 33 billion to our owners.
2022
- Magasin X in Uppsala is completed. The building is one of Sweden’s largest office buildings with a frame made entirely of wood and a guide in the climate transition.
- Nya Kronan in Sundbyberg named winner of the 2022 Building of the Year (Årets bygge) by Byggindustrin.
2023
- Launch of a new framework for green financing with stricter requirements and an adaptation to the EU taxonomy for sustainable investments.
- Magasin X receives the award for LEED building/project of the year and Anna Denell receives the award for Person of the Year in Sustainable Construction from SGBC.
- Magasin X is awarded the Solar Energy Prize, by the Swedish Solar Energy industry association.
- Vasakronan named Recycler of the Year by Business Region Gothenburg.
2024
- Lumi in Uppsala is complete and fully leased. One of Sweden’s most ambitious recycling projects, where 80% of the structure has been preserved.
- The office property Uggleborg 14, SthlmHUB on Vasagatan in central Stockholm is acquired at an underlying property value of SEK 715 million.
